Creating an Access Database - Step 4: The Forms

In this database, we are going to have the following forms:

Before designing forms, it is worth spending a few minutes deciding on a consistent set of design principles for your forms to aid the user with the database. For example, when dealing with calculated fields, I normally set the BackStyle of the control to Transparent and the Special Effect to Flat, whereas normal data-entry fields have a back color of White, and are Sunken. Also, ensuring that you use a consistent method of navigation between records on the different forms, rather than using the Access navigation buttons on one form, and on another form using custom navigation buttons. Remember that it is the forms that the user will see most of - get them wrong, and they won't like the database, regardless of how well it achieves the requirements.
